Life in a slum wasn’t easy. Kadar Khan was admitted to the local municipal school. But as a child, he knew how poverty gives pain to his parents. But life was worst when his parents got apart that was the very rough time in Kadar Khan's Life. Khan stayed with his mother. Back then, it was not safe for a single woman to stay alone with a child, that too in a slum. So,Khan's mother married again. Since at the age of two, Khan had the company of two fathers. His biological father used to teach at a masjid nearby. He would go there, and study.

After schooling, Kadar Khan joined Yusuf Ismail College from where he acquired a diploma in civil engineering. During his college days, he would write and take part in plays.He participated in One play which was based on ‘Local Train’ this play was awarded a national level award, and also he earned cash prize of 1500 rupees. This was a game changer in Khan’s life.

Actor Dilip Kumar came to know about this play and expressed interest to watch the play. Dilip Kumar was so impressed by Khan that he signed him for two cult films, 'Sagina Mahato' and Bairaag. From here his writer journey started.
