Salman Khan Is All Set To Become Mama For The Second Time
You think of elephants, horses, palaces, gold, gems and other stuff that we dream of but only few manage to acquire a part of it.
And there are some other things we think of too- like the little army of wife and the harem of mistress the 'royals' used to have....no matter how much you dream or want these are better left in the past. You know what I mean.
We are going to talk about the Royal of Royals here!
Bhupinder Singh, the Maharaja Of Patiala is one royal name that resonates strong even today!
Let it be in terms of his wealth or the opulence with which it was showcased, this Maharaja lived a life that even the richest of people envied!
Bhupinder Singh was crowned king at the little age of 9! Descriptions about him can be found here and there in a book by Dominique Lapierre and Lary Collins called 'Freedom At Midnight.'
His Majesty in 1918 was awarded the honorary title of Major General. He is said to the first Indian to gain ownership of an aircraft, for which he got an airstrip built in Patiala!
The Maharaja owned over 20 Rolls Royce! He was the first person to own an imported car in India back then when he bought a French De Dion-Bouton.
He was known as the 'Dan Bilzerian of old India' for his grand lifestyle! His shenanigans were also a reason behind earning this name.
The book, 'Freedom At Midnight', talks of a breast plate owned by the Maharaja which was made of 1001 white diamonds and adorned with blue diamonds as well. There's a legend behind it too!
It's said that once a year, the Maharaja would wear nothing but this breastplate of diamonds and greet his loyal subjects by showcasing his 'organ'!
When the Maharaja met the Supreme Dictator in Berlin, Hitler was so taken with him that he gifted the Maharaja a personalized Maybach through a sense of gratitude and admiration!
What's more, the Maharaja sent a trunk filled with priceless diamonds to the House Of Cartier in 1928 with orders for a necklace to be made! It took 2 years to make the famous 'Patiala Necklace' which weighed 962.25 carats and had over 2,930 diamonds! It even had the world's seventh largest diamond the "De Beers" in it!
Needlesly to say, this Maharaja's life was colourful in all aspects! He was a notorious womaizer! He married 5 times but had 88 childrn(he had a harem of concubines remember?). Obvioulsy to keep this sex appetite of his going he had an equally huge- 20 pounds of food in a day to be exact- appetite!
'Luxurious ' is a vain word to describe the life of this Maharaja! Far from it actually. For this was a man who spent his summer evenings swimming with bare-chested women by his side!
Let's hear it for Bhupinder Singh, the Maharaja Of Patiala!
