Salman Khan Is All Set To Become Mama For The Second Time
While we still anxiously search for ways to have a longer life, meet Li Ching Yuen, who has lived for 256 years like a boss. Some official documents of the Imperial Chinese Government from 1827 were discovered by the Wu Chung-chieh, which were congratulating Yuen on his 150th birthday.
Some more documents too were found from 1877 which were congratulating Yuen on his 200th birthday. He died on 6th May, 1933. Let's know more about this man and know his secret to longer life.
Li Ching Yuen was born in Qijiang district in China. Though disputed records state that he was born in 1677 but some claim that he was born in 1736. Li Ching was a herbalist, martial artist and tactical advisor, who is more famous for his longevity, that is, his life span of 256 years. At the mere age of 10, he started his career as a herbalist.
He would go up to the mountain ranges and would study and collect the herbs. He had a great knowledge of herbs which could help live a longer life. It is said that he had survived on a diet of herbs such as lingzhi, goji berry, wild ginseng, he shoo wu and gotu kola and rice wine for almost 40 years.
At the age of 71, Li Ching had joined the Chinese army as a martial arts teacher. He was one of the most loved figure of his community and that it is said that he married 23 times and had over 200 children. Now that's a huge figure. There are many tales about him in his province and one among them being that he could read and write as a child, and by his tenth birthday had traveled in Kansu, Shansi, Tibet, Annam, Siam and Manchuria gathering herbs.
It is said that it was only first hundred years of his life that he collected herbs. After that he sold herbs collected by other people. He sold lingzhi, goji berry, wild ginseng, he shou wu and gotu kola along with other Chinese herbs, and lived off a diet of these herbs and rice wine.
Li Ching had revealed his secret to longevity on his death bed. He had replied that, “Keep a quiet heart, sit like a tortoise, walk sprightly like a pigeon and sleep like a dog". He had given that advice to the warlord Wu Pei-fu, who had taken Li Ching into his house to get trained by him.
Li Ching's diet, his maintaining of inward calm and peace along with his breathing techniques were his secrets of longevity. One of his disciples claimed that Li once met a 500-year-old man that taught him Qigong exercises and a special herb-rich diet that can help people live extraordinarily long lives.
We were actually shocked when we learnt that Li Ching is 200+ years old. But give a thought to this issue, what is actually a big deal in that. Living in a calm and clean atmosphere, breathing a clean air, not having that 9 to 5 office hours, no junk foods and only herbs which boost our organs and make them stronger and above all, exercise and calm mind and extremely amazing breathing techniques.
We had our ancestors living this long because the atmosphere was clean. The reduced life span is a gift to us by nature in return to the damage we have done. Think once, just think.
