This blockbuster film of Deepika and Ranbir was based on friendship and love. They were on a trekking trip to Manali but in reality apart from the temple and the resort, major part of the trekking was shot in Gulmarg, Pahalgam.

In fact, Then Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, expressed his anger over the shot in the film. He stated that apart from the temple and resort, all scenes were shot in Gulmarg.

In this film chemistry between Kajol and Aamir was phenomenal. There was a major change in the film location. The director chose to move the Kashmir scenes to the Tatra Mountains in southern Poland, which provides snowy and mountainous land.

The Laalgunj of Uttar Pradesh which is represented by Chulbul Pandey’s village is the tiny town of Wai in Maharashtra.

The major part of the film was shot in Kashmir like Sonmarg and Zoji La. The film’s climax was shot at Sonmarg near the Thajiwas glacier.

Many of you are unaware of this, the first half of this film had recreated Chandni Chowk in a studio of the film city of Mumbai. Several pictures of the original area and also shopped in the various pathway of Chandni Chowk.

The Raichand Palace was obviously not shot in Delhi. The outdoor scenes of the Raichand family mansion were shot at Waddesdon Manor, London.

In January 2013, a shoot was scheduled to take place in Ooty, but SRK felt that Ooty was too far from Mumbai, many locations of Ooty were captured and reconstructed on the outskirt of Panchgani in Wai by the art director Narendra Ruharikar.
